GET OUTTA YOUR FEELINGS

It’s not a matter of if, it’s a matter of WHEN.

When you will be so emotional about some aspect of your business that you’ll want to do what makes you feel better.

Trust me. You WILL be faced with a decisions in your business that are going to pull you in one emotional direction or another.

As a budding CEO, not doubt are you emotionally attached to your business.

You probably created your business from the ground up.

It was YOU who had the idea. YOU’RE the one who filed the paperwork and paid the fees to the secretary of state. YOU opened up your business bank accounts. YOU created all the assets for your business, YOU work endless hours with vendors, engage on social media, conduct sales calls. When it comes to what you do in your business the list is LONG.

If there was something that could be likened to your baby, I’d say it’s your business. After all, much like a baby, your business was birthed out of YOU.

As much YOU that’s tied up in your business, it’s very important for you to grasp early on that decisions for your business cannot be made based on how you feel.

Your decisions must be based on the destination you want to go and what it takes to get you there.

This often times is a matter of making data-driven decisions but sometimes there is not data to consider. You have to do what you have to do in order to get to where you are going.

Now, don’t confuse operating in emotion as advice for you to ignore your gut. Quick decisions and relying on your instincts is a huge role you will be playing.

When it comes to building your business you have to start acting like you’re running a business. There are going to be many decisions that need to be made that are not in alignment with your emotions or how you feel.

Here’s the thing that might surprise you. Your business should not exist to serve you and make you feel good. Your business should exist to serve your target audience.

And the foundation of that service starts with your personal brand.
