How To Establish Your Expertise

Part of establishing your credibility in your niche requires you to have your own thoughts.

Here’s what I mean by that:

It’s easy to get influenced by other people’s opinions and what’s trendy. And then somehow when you see or hear the same opinion or the same trend it somehow becomes what you think about a certain topic.

If you really want to start building a profitable and sustainable personal brand, however, you are going to have to take your own stance on some things.

You’re going to have to push back on some of the trends and popular opinions.

You’re going to have to learn how to create a space for you to share PUBLICLY your thoughts, ideas and opinions.

Your audience doesn’t want to hear thoughts, ideas and opinions that are popular.

They want to hear YOUR thoughts ideas and opinions (even if they aren’t popular).

They want to hear how YOU would approach their problem and YOUR unique solution.

They don’t want to hear a bunch of stuff they can find on google or read in a book.

If you truly want to become the go-to expert in your industry, you have to start looking at the ideas presented in your industry from a critical perspective.

What I mean by that is you will have to learn how to look at any given subject matter that you are claiming to be an expert in and analyze it, assess it, deconstruct it and then it.

And you’re going to have to learn how to do this in a very self-directed, self-disciplined, self-monitored, and self-correcting manner.

After you’ve committed yourself to looking at any given subject matter in your area of expertise through a critical lens, you then have to create a platform on which you will share your perspective.
